2018–2019 SEASON LINE-UP

CONROE, TX – The Conroe Symphony Orchestra is getting ready for its 22nd Season and has announced the programming for the upcoming 2018-2019 Season, opening Saturday, September 8, 2018 and continuing through June 29, 2019.

The Conroe Symphony Orchestra is a non-profit 501(c) 3 organization made up of a mix of talented professional and amateur musicians with a wide age range. The committed musicians that make up the Conroe Symphony enjoy the challenge of the music while showcasing their talent to the community.

Music Director and Conductor Dr. Don Hutson will conduct this season’s concert series along with the Conroe Symphony Orchestra’s new Associate Conductor, Jacob Sustaita.  The season encompasses works from all musical eras and features the talents of numerous guest artists complementing the Conroe Symphony Orchestra performances:

“Opening Night Celebration”

David Kim, Guest Violinist

Make plans to attend the Conroe Symphony Orchestra Opening Night Concert for a memorable night! Joining the Orchestra for Opening Night is renowned violinist, David Kim, Concertmaster of the Philadelphia Orchestra. The audience will be wonderfully entertained by David Kim playing Violin Concerto in G minor by Bruch. The Orchestra will delight everyone with selections of Academic Festival Overture, Radetzky March, the Miller’s Dance from the Three-Cornered Hat, Russian Sailor’s Dance from “The Red Poppy”, and Sabre Dance from the Ballet Gayane and round out the perfect evening with Jurassic Park.

“Holiday Celebrations”

Get ready for Christmas Spirit with the Conroe Symphony Orchestra as they present season favorites. The CSO is pleased to welcome Justin Doute, 2018 Young Texas Artist Grand Prize Winner. The Orchestra’s holiday music will include In the Bleak Midwinter, Music from Frozen, Stille Nacht, Christmas-That Special Time of the Year, Christmas at the Movies, Around the World at Christmas Time, Christmas-A Medley of Well-Known Carols. All will enjoy this magical musical evening.

February is always the time of year when we take a moment to celebrate those very special people in our lives. With that in mind, the CSO will make it a very memorable evening. The Symphony will feature some beautiful pieces including When You Believe from the Prince of Egypt by Schwartz, arr. Charles Sayre.

“Farewell Concert… A Walk Down Memory Lane”

This CSO Spring Concert Honors Dr. Don Hutson with a very special evening! Music will include selections from The Phantom of the Opera, The Typewriter, The Cowboys Overture, Watch Me Burn by Charles H. Blake (Don’s nephew), Dances with Wolves, Theme from ET, Dazon No 2, Summertime, William Tell Overture. You will not want to miss this extra special evening!

“Celebrating America”

Don your favorite red, white and blue apparel and join the Conroe Symphony Orchestra as we celebrate the USA! If you have attended any of the CSO’s Patriotic concerts, you know they like to have a lot of fun. This year is no exception! Concert selections will feature a rousing rendition of Battle Hymn of the Republic along with America and America the Beautiful. The CSO always remembers those in the Armed Forces sacrificing to keep us free. The annual Armed Forces Salute will pay tribute to each branch.  Please show your patriotic pride and join us for this spectacular celebration!
