Two great American musical traditions meet on one stage.
The Conroe Symphony Orchestra teams up with Dave Alexander and the Texas Swing Band for a night celebrating Western Swing — the uniquely Texas sound pioneered by legends like Bob Wills and the Texas Playboys and Spade Cooley. It’s music built on jazz-infused harmonies and big band energy, and it turns out to sit beautifully alongside a full orchestra.
A concert that honors our regional heritage while showcasing the orchestra at its most versatile. This is Texas music, played the Texas way, with the scale of a symphony behind it.
“Western swing and orchestra music complement each other surprisingly well. Those colorful chords translate beautifully to a full string section and orchestral woodwinds.”
— Gary Liebst, Music Director
